Some local favorites are as a lubricant for wood and metal surfaces like doors, windows, drawers, and zippers, as an ingredient in projects like candles, lotion bars, and chap sticks. The color of the beeswax varies and is grouped into 3 categories. Light wax comes from newly drawn wax, typically collected while working the hives when bees get creative and build comb in spaces between the frames. Bright Wax comes from wax in honey supers and is collected in the fall while extracting. Dark wax comes from the brood chamber and is collected when a frame is damaged or replaced. The color of your product will be affected by the color of the wax but the quality will be the same.
